NEC
necrotizing
enterocolitis
Did your baby suffer from a serious condition called Necrotizing Enterocolitis (also known as NEC)?
If premature infants are fed cow’s milk-based formula, they can develop NEC, a condition that may result in inflammation, perforations or holes in the intestine, sepsis, and even death. Surgery to remove part of the intestine is often required. Long-term complications include Short Bowel Syndrome, cerebral palsy, blindness, neurological impairment, cognitive impairment, motor impairment and eating disorders.
Manufacturers have an obligation to inform the public about any harmful effects of the products they create and market. The companies that produced these baby formulas did not provide warnings with their products of the increased risk of NEC in premature infants. If you or your child had NEC, you may be entitled to financial compensation.
